Like the famous Ramones song (see wikipedia entry for the Subterranean Jungle album), I have always been an outsider.
As a homeschooled child I had no close friends. I made a few great friends in college but when I graduated with no job prospects or hopes of grad school I became practically a hermit once more. I did not even keep up with my college friends after graduation because I was too embarrassed about being less successful. I more or less went off the map.
I began moving to new towns every few years, hoping to make real connections but always falling short. I met some nice people where I've worked and volunteered, but no lasting friendships. It’s hard for me to relate to other people because I just don’t have the same interests or values that most people seem to have.
I thought of making a blog, but instead I'm using this box as a place to talk about recent stuff in my life.
I use ebay pretty frequently :) In my opinion it's great to support independent sellers instead of corporations.
Not into the macabre, but somehow I found these skull dice and was intrigued: https://www.ebay.com/itm/275127533959. What do you think? Would you want to use these dice?

I don’t care about sports or current celebrities, I don’t follow trends, I don’t use any "social media", and I hate religion (I am an atheist). I don’t fit in with most political groups either; philosophically speaking I identify as an anarchist. I am also an ethical vegan (no harm to animals, for the animals' sake!), with the caveat that I hate bees and wasps and I am very distrustful of ants; I have no remorse about killing them or using honey and beeswax (to me they just seem like mindless work-monsters that sting or bite! An early childhood incidents with wasps left me hating them bitterly).
I like some vintage things and I'm sentimental to the VHS, pre-internet era, but I don't consider myself a Luddite or anti-technology. I just feel like technology is in the hands of the wrong people and focuses on either nonsense (such as AI obsession and endless "smart" devices) or downright evil (drone warfare and surveillance state dystopia) when it should be focused on useful stuff like clean energy, clean air and water, and low-cost medical interventions.
I do not own a smartphone. I never owned a smartphone before. And I hope to never, ever own a smartphone in the future. (I currently use this Nokia!)
I don’t use “conveniences” like Doordash, Uber Eats, etc. I do not have a Spotify account. I do not use Amazon. And I absolutely never use Google.
As you can imagine, I fall out of step with the vast majority of people. Even if I wanted to make friends, it’s hard to do so because I simply cannot comprehend the way most people live and the things they care about and find interesting.
I'm hoping maybe Neocities might be a place to connect with people who are a little bit outside the mainstream, like me. I never learned HTML or Javascript, so my page won’t be fancy. But at least it's made by a real person :) not a robot hoping for clicks to feed hungry advertiser pockets LOL. I have used a black background not to be edgy but to reduce eye strain for myself and others.
I really like the idea of Neocities! It’s kind of like homecooked food made with love, instead of prepackaged heart-attack fuel. It’s inspiring what other people have created on here.
